Defining a
COMMONLY AGREED Plan
In 1983 a Korean Airlines jet
strayed deep into Soviet airspace and was shot down by Russian fighters.
Was there anything wrong with the autopilot? No. Was there anything
wrong with the plane itself? No.
Subsequent analysis showed that the wrong coordinates had been
entered into the autopilot at the outset of the flight, and the
crew had never checked their progress manually. The pilots
were absolutely sure that they had done the right thing and died
for their belief.
We are not suggesting anything as dramatic as this can happen in
your business, but can you be sure that everyone is aimed in the
same direction?
Highly successful businesses have a number of things in common.
Their people understand a commonly agreed plan, their part in it
and they are aligned behaviourally to deliver it. A Strategic
Success Goal Focusing workshop for your business gets everyone
aligned with the few objectives that will really get results rather
than allow everyone to do what they think is right, all using autopilots
set to achieve different objectives. Our goal workshops consider:
- What’s going on
in your industry and the effect that has on your business
- The impact the wider
world is having on your business
- How to counteract these
impacts
- Departmental objectives
necessary to achieve your goals
- The risks that can affect
the delivery of the goals (i.e. people, processes or organisation
structure)
- The actions that need
to be taken by each individual to achieve the goals, delivered
in their words and at their level of understanding
Our workshop captures all of this into one simple plan, along with
the things you are already doing today that need to continue.
It provides the route map that most of the population need
in order to perform in their job role. Without the “map and
directions” they are unable to understand what has to be achieved
and how, as apart from a few, they need boundaries and direction
to function well.
